A Prologue to Trans-Tasman Rivalry

The Game of Cricket in his long history has been witnessing spectacular battles between different teams. The Tran-Tasman rivalry is the one that stands out head and shoulders above others due to a high level of aggression and intensity with which New Zealand and Australia plays the game.

Since the inauguration of Chappell-Hadlee Trophy, the spectators have been host to an exciting and thrilling contest. The Black Caps
have reasons to be confident going into the series against Australia after comfortably winning their series against Srilanka and Pakistan.

The Kiwis have depth in their squad as injury to their skipper Brendon McCullum did not deter them from pulling off victorious in an emphatic way.

Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson are in the form of their life showing consistency and playing aggression brand of cricket needed to provide early impetus against any opposition in the one-day game.

Trent Boult and Mathew Henry will ensure potency and threat in the pace department as they will be keen to make early inroads into a stellar Australian batting line-up that consists of aggressive stroke players.

Australia, on the other hand, had a successful summer as they obliterated a feeble West Indies in the Test Series followed by an impressive ODI series victory against India.

Australian batters like Khawaja, Burns, Bailey and Maxwell are in tremendous form so it will take some doing to stop their juggernaut.
For New Zealand to succeed, all will depend on their opening duo of Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill to provide them an excellent platform so that middle order players like Williamson and Anderson can fill their boots to take the team to a daunting total.

The Kiwi bowling department will have to pull their plans together in place as to stop the onslaught of the Australian openers. The likes of Adam Milne will be a handful on the surfaces produced for the game in New Zealand.

Australia needs to adjust to the conditions offered in New Zealand as the pitches will have offer some lateral movement, not like the flat roads produced in Australia against India, which saw bowlers mercilessly being dismissed to all parts of the ground.
It is going to be an enthralling contest as the teams are evenly matched to see who gets the upper hand this time around.
